This is just so unfair. People like Girish are so badly needed in this insane world, to bring some sanity back to so-called 'development' and all our lives, and especially the lives of the poor and dispriviliged. This is a tremendous loss for not only us, but the next few generations.

Girish, it was a shock to hear that you have left us. Your contribution to the work in the BASIC expert group gave us the opportunity to get to know you. I was struck how your inputs into the complexities of multi-lateral climate talks were so firmly root in the realities of working at community level through Prayas. I’ve learned that you also climbed Himalayan mountains unassisted, and there was much in your work that went right from the ground. These things were well connected when we talked. You will be much missed, also in South Africa. I will treasure the memory of the time we had together, and we will take forward the work.

Girish brought to his work a high degree of integrity and competence, qualitties nowadays are rare to find. The news is shocking. The energy sector has lost a valiant crtique. I share in the grief of his family and of Prayas.

Girish's demise comes as a shock to me. It is indeed a huge loss for the pro-environment /devlopment community in India. We will need a visionary to step up and take forward his mantle.

Girish Sant and Prayas have been synonymous with the cause of sustainable energy in our country. Those of us working in the sector are grateful beneficiaries of their deep commitment and insight. Girish has left his mark and enriched the field. But nothing can take away from the sorrow of a life ended too early with so much more to give. At this time, our thoughts and condolences go to Girish's family and loved ones. From all at Centre for Social Markets (CSM).

Girish Sant and Prayas have been synonymous with the cause of sustainable energy access for the poor in our country. Those of us working in the sector have been grateful beneficiaries of their commitment and insights. At the age of just 46, Girish has left his mark and enriched the field. But nothing can take away from the personal sorrow of a life ended too abruptly and with so much more to give. Our thoughts and condolences go to Girish's family and loved ones. From all at Centre for Social Markets (CSM).

Girish- It was a privilege to get to know you and count you as a close friend. I will always cherish the long but occasional chats in Pune. Your calm personae was a perfect foil to the vigour of your analysis and your manner of communicating analyses was a class act.l You are a loss to the indian energy fraternity; our thoughts are with your family. I shall miss you, friend.
Girish, may your soul rest in peace. You will always continue to inspire us here at Greenpeace India.
