Girish was my senior at H5 IIT Bombay.
Met him 2 decades later on a bus journey from Bombay to Pune.
He was passionate about Prayas.
Shocked to learn about his demise at his prime.

We were at IIT-B during the same years. Decades later when I ran into him in Delhi I was trying to place him, unsuccessfully. Among other things, he led a rock climbing expedition that I participated in. Shocked and saddened by the belated news of his passing.

Dear Friends at Prayas,
Just yesterday I restarted an assignment at an organization serving the needs of the solar/PV community that I had been associated with earlier in 2009-11.
And I have just found out today that Girish Sant, whom I had been in touch with back then, passed away last year. Needless to say, I am shocked and saddened to hear of this.
My deepest sympathies to everyone in his family and among his associates. I salute his service, his wisdom and a life well lived.
Kind regards.

I came to know this shocking news late after a year. I met Mr Sant only once some 4 years ago but this news has brought tears in my eyes and I freely wept for the loss of a SAINT. In such a short inteaction over a cup of tea, he made a deep impact on me and made to think about possibility of contribution to society we live in- instead of just being selfish, too commercial in use of our knowledge & experience. He and Prayas Group shows the way we engineers can also share social responsibilies selflessly. The Primer "Know your Power" a preciuos gift from him personally to me, reminds me of his noble thoghts and simplicity.

This is such a shocking news. My heartfelt condolences to his family. I know its very late but i just got to know about this after i received a mail about the Fellowship established in his remembrance. Such a tragedy. He would always be remembered for his contribution to the advocacy of environmental causes.

I read few documents written by Girish Sir those were remarkable and dynamic concern shown towards energy issues. Though I haven't got chance to meet him but I feel I missed a chance to meet an iconic personality

I know I am writing this tribute to Girish Sant awfully late.
I hadn't interacted with Girish very closely, but was a great admirer of his and his colleagues' work at Prayas. It takes enormous and sustained commitment to establish and grow an organisation like Prayas. Girish had it in him. The strong pro-people perspective that he imparted to the energy debate in India -- it has lessons for the rest of the world, too -- is a legacy that he has left behind.
My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

We have lost a studious activist. Very sad news. May his soul rest in peace.
