This short article appeared in the 10th anniversary issue of Power Line, a monthly on the Indian power sector. It looks at the consumer expectations from E Act, contrasting them with the emerging reality and suggests some required actions. It highlights how consumers are a neglected stake holder in power sector and this perspective has to change. It argues that having consumers, non-consumers and society at large as the key stakeholders is the only way to ensure that interests of the majority poor, future consumers and society are protected.
